
Jo is a singer, fiddler, community musician and ethnomusicologist who has worked in a wide range of settings. She currently leads ‘Our Front Room’, a house group of singers in Stirling, and is honoured to be the oldest member of the Glasgow Madrigirls! She has a particular interest in bringing traditional songs to life from the page.
Jo is also a qualified mentor and runs mentoring programmes for traditional arts practitioners. In 2017 she received the Hamish Henderson award for services to traditional music. Her book ‘Community-based traditional music in Scotland: A Pedagogy of Participation’ will shortly be published by Routledge.
