Submit A Song • Scotland Sings

An intrinsic part of our practice, song sharing broadens our horizons and enriches our artistic programmes. Our idea is to create a sustainable national song sharing network and we’d like you to help us realise this vision by submitting a song that you would be pleased to share with other choirs freely.

The song should be deliverable in an inclusive setting and not overly complex. It can be in any genre or style.

All songs must be out of copyright with out-of-copyright text, or be published under a creative commons licence. For clarity on copyright for choirs, please view this clear guide published by Luminate’s Dementia Inclusive Network.

If you would like to share a song from a cultural background that is not your own, please make sure that you are fully informed about the specific place of origin, language and translation of lyrics, and you have sufficient understanding of the cultural context of the song.

Members of the Scotland Sings steering group will curate the Songbook from your submissions with the aim that they will be valuable to the widest number of groups and singers. The songs will be shared on the Scotland Sings website for access and use by any community choir or leader. Not all of the songs submitted may be suitable, and we'll let you know our reasoning on this if we choose not to include your submission.

After you have submitted this form, please email your song to us at hello@lovemusic.org.uk. If you have your song in music software format, eg. sib, xml, finale, dorico, please send us that file as well as a pdf or midi file.
