Debbie Armour is a Glasgow based musician, working primarily with traditional song. Broadly, her work is motivated by ideas of persistence, resonance and deep cultural roots. In her primary project, Burd Ellen, she uses British and international traditional song to explore narrative and sound in a contemporary setting. She is also a founder member of critically acclaimed contemporary a cappella group Green Ribbons.
In addition to her performance work, Debbie develops and delivers a variety of community projects. She uses archive material to look at ideas of community and shared cross-cultural heritage. She is an experienced song leader and arranger, with a passion for unaccompanied singing.
Debbie says: “I am thrilled to be working with Love Singing on this great project. Making new work bespoke for a choir is every arrangers dream. I hope to come together with the singers to create a piece of music that has a long life and brings joy to as many voices as possible!”
