Overview
This is a funded professional development opportunity, where song leaders can apply to visit another leader to observe them and learn from their work and practice. The content or theme of the visit will be individual to the learning needs of the visitor.
To apply, you will be a song leader already working with a singing group or choir in Scotland.
The person you would like to visit doesn’t need to be based in Scotland, however please note the travel budget below.
Fees & expenses
Visitor fee: £110
Host fee: £55
We have budgeted for up to £75 travel per visit, and that 10 visitors might require overnight accommodation costing up to £175. Our mileage reimbursement is 45p per mile, but please use sustainable travel methods where possible. If you require an overnight hotel stay, please tell us in advance, preferably when you sign up, so that we do not go over our budget.
This fee structure assumes that the host will not need to prepare anything additional for the visitor, but will meet up with them for a discussion of around one hour in duration.
Our budget enables us to offer 20 visits before the end of March, however if this proves a popular part of the programme we can revise how much budget is allocated to it for future years. We are initially offering one paid visit per person.
Agreement
By signing up to be a visitor, you agree to:
- Organise the visit directly with your host and tell Love Music when it is happening.
- Take at least one photograph or short video showing your visit – please comply with media permissions policies at the group you visit.
- Fill in a short form after your visit to provide data for our funders.
- Write a short report on your experience and what you learned and send it to Love Music after the visit has taken place. These written accounts will be shared for the benefit of network members, for our evaluation programme development, and to publicise the programme. If this is something you’d struggle with, don’t be put off – we can provide you with some questions to guide your writing or can interview you, or you could record a video report instead. We’ll always proof anything before publishing.
- Will provide funds as per the information above, following an invoice which details any expenses to be claimed with receipts attached.
- If you don’t already know the person you’d like to visit, we’ll ask the person’s permission for you to visit, and if they are happy to host you, we’ll introduce you via email so that you can organise your visit directly.
- If the person you want to visit isn’t available, we’ll suggest alternatives based on your expression of your needs.
- Will share your stories on our websites and/or social media (with your permission).
- Will help answer any questions or concerns and action those where appropriate.
