Harry leads community choirs and singing workshops in Glasgow and elsewhere, often using his own arrangements, and perform in groups both ‘folky’ and ‘classical’. His passion is unaccompanied harmony singing, especially music from around the world, and loves rootsy Americana, especially ‘shapenote‘ music, as found in the Sacred Harp and other collections.
As a linguist with a background in reference publishing, he is interested in the cultural background of songs as well as the sound they make, and in an era where harmony singing in the UK has become so heavily female-dominated, he feels strongly about the need to get men singing.
