Invitation to planning events
Now that we have 3-year funding for Love Singing from Creative Scotland, what do you want this project to do for you? It’s been over two years since our original funding applications… what are your priorities now?
We would love to have your input on which parts of the sector plan we should focus on first. Please join us for one of our launch meetings to help us plan, share your thoughts, have a little sing with us and celebrate the launch of this Scotland-specific community singing leader network.
We have three events planned:
- 1-4pm on Sat 24th May at the Albert Halls in Stirling (with singing!)
- 11am on Weds 21st May online
- 6pm on Weds 21st May online
The online events should last 60-90 minutes but we can extend if the discussion is flowing.
Sign up for the events here by Sun 18th May
All events are free to attend. Please let us know on the booking form if you need support with travel costs or have access support needs.
Your priorities survey – fill in by Sun 18th May
Please help us to make this project as impactful and useful for you as it can be by filling in this survey – it should take you less than 10 minutes. We will bring the responses to the planning meetings for discussion and to make some decisions on what we should focus on first. Please fill this in even if you can’t attend the events, so that your voice can be heard.
Fill in the survey here
At the events, we’d like to start with these topics:
- Planning priorities as identified from your survey input
- Widening access to the network for people and groups not represented
- Steering group succession planning – the steering group are paid freelance positions and we want to make sure that a wide range of people and groups are represented
- This project’s name and identity
- What network communication tools do we need?
- What will incentivise you and the sector to take an active role and interest in the group?
Please let us know if you have suggestions for other topics to cover by replying to this email.
Resources planning
Alongside the song resources that were created for Comfort of Voices in 2022, we have been granted permission to host the existing Big Big Sing and Hands Up For Trad Scotland Sings songbooks and resources on our project website. We’re just working out copyright and performer permissions for some of the songs and we’ll let you know when they are available to access.
We’ll also collate info about the various sector support groups that are out there already, so that we can work in partnership with them to achieve common goals or at least make sure we’re not replicating resources that are freely available.
All of the activities we’re planning will be free to you and we’ll keep some budget available to support travel and access costs for those who need it. You will be able to donate to support the project as well if you so wish. Please do let us know how we can best include you in our planning – we’re very happy with feedback and suggestions about how we do things. This is your network and we are here to serve your needs!
We’re excited to start working on this project and look forward to connecting with you soon. Please do get in touch if you have any questions, thoughts, suggestions on how we can best curate this programme to your benefit.
A warm thank you from the Love Singing steering group
