Sing For Pleasure’s national (UK) singing conference celebrating its 60th anniversary. The conference has something for everyone, with an outstanding line-up of workshop leaders, speakers and panellists made up of diverse and influential figures from across the arts sector. They’re looking forward to welcoming everyone for an exciting, thought-provoking and impactful day exploring the role of choirs and singing in society today. Full details on the website here.
Nordic Music Days are inviting choirs of all types to join in a mass premier performance of phōnḗ – an exciting new composition by Tytti Arola. phōnḗ reflects on how we can connect with sound: we can sing, talk and listen, even at a distance, by using different technologies. Tytti’s fabulous score caters for choirs of all types, from children’s choirs to auditioned adult chamber ensembles, mixed voice choral societies to upper-voice community choirs. The piece has been commissioned as part of Nordic Music Days, one of the world’s longest running festivals for contemporary classical music. This year, the festival is based in Glasgow – only the third time in its 136 year history that the event has taken place outside of the Nordic Countries, and choirs are invited to join in the premier in Glasgow, or to stage their own in their local area.
